Last summer, a large herd of horses and young foals arrived at Humane Colorado's Harmony Equine Center, underweight with severe medical issues and overgrown hooves, after being seized by law enforcement and our Animal Protection team.
Over 70 horses received tireless care, essential nourishment, veterinary treatment, and compassion from the very first day.

After 10 long months, Humane Colorado has finally been granted legal custody of this herd.
Since the rescue began nearly a year ago, we've spent over $400,000 to provide these horses with the urgent care they desperately needed and ongoing daily care to not only survive but thrive as they leave the worst behind them.
On average, it takes more than $9,000 to support just one horse's journey at Harmony - a cost that quickly adds up with so many vulnerable animals in dire conditions in our care.

Peanut arrived at Harmony as a tiny foal with a painful ulcer in is right eye. With the urgent care of our team and veterinary partners, this sweet boy's corneal rupture has now healed and he has gained nearly 450 pounds!
Over the next several months, Peanut will undergo surgery and ongoing training with our equine trainers to prepare him for adoption. This care includes building his comfort with being haltered to help him receive vital farrier care without sedation.
